Danielle Gilliam Resignation from the New Mexico Environment Department

A personal statement regarding my March 2026 resignation and an update to the public record.

In March 2026, I resigned from my position with the New Mexico Environment Department following nearly five years of service to the State of New Mexico.

During that period, unexpected circumstances in my personal life became public, including a legal matter that was promptly dismissed in its entirety. At that point in my life, I chose to resign from state government and refocus my attention on the people and priorities that mattered most to me.

An Update to the Public Record

The personal circumstances received significant attention. Their prompt resolution received none.

Personal matters are often more complex than a single snapshot can capture. I have chosen to preserve the privacy of those circumstances while making the outcome clear.

My Service To New Mexico

I remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served the State of New Mexico for nearly five years and for the people with whom I had the privilege to work.

I value the relationships built, the work accomplished together, and the opportunity to contribute to public service in New Mexico.

Moving Forward

My professional work continues to be grounded in the principles that have shaped my career: thoughtful leadership, integrity, accountability, service, and a commitment to helping organizations and people navigate complexity and change.

I am proud of the work I have done, grateful for the people with whom I have worked, and focused on what comes next.
